The Return of the Prince to his Destiny

What ran in the minds of the characters when such a magnitude event happened?

Spoiler Alert- Those of you who haven’t read or watched the Baahubali series, continue reading after you’ve read and watched the series. I will wait. You have been warned.

Kattappa

The worst had happened. He had failed in his duty. The intruder had grabbed the sword from his hands and beheaded prince Bhadra in a truce.

“Oh, God! I’ve failed to save the prince!” He thought in panic. A split second later, red hot anger pulsed through his veins like a volcano. He swore that he would chop this impudent man into pieces!

Around Kattappa, everybody stood in shock. Queen Devasena stood up proud and happy to see some justice in this godforsaken kingdom!

The intruder hadn't noticed his foster parents and the villagers who had just arrived there. They all looked shocked! King Jayasena was fighting side by side with Avantika, and both of them stared at this sight.

Kattappa was shaking with fury as it began to rain. Kattappa screamed for his weapon, “Anila!”. He caught it and began rushing at the intruder with mad rage.

The intruder stood with his back turned to Kattappa, the rain washing his wounds and blood away. He was listening with rapt attention and suddenly turned back to face the old warrior.

Kattappa thought he had lost it. Either that or the past had merged with the present. AMARENDRA BAAHUBALI in front of him after being dead for 25 long years??

This can’t be a ghost, Kattappa reasoned. A ghost wouldn’t save a prisoner, fight with dozens of soldiers and behead the prince of Mahishmati wielding a sword. If this isn’t Amarendra Baahubali, this could only mean one thing!

That baby was not dead! Queen Devasena was right! Her son was alive!!

Kattappa barely registered his knees going weak. He screamed, ‘Baahubali!’

Queen Devasena

Devasena could see her husband, Amarendra Baahubali, in this young man who resembled his father so much! This left her in no doubt that this was her son, who was thought to be dead, Mahendra Baahubali. Here was the revenge she had been waiting for! She had been waiting for her son to come and place the wicked tyrant on the pyre. Devasena would then rise like Goddess Kali and destroy Bhallaladeva.

She had trusted Queen Mother Shivagami Devi! She had always heard of the queen mother before and after she had met her. Even though Devasena did not have a good relationship with Sivagami at the start, it improved after Baahubali’s death. Devasena had trusted Sivagami with her newborn son and knew that the erstwhile queen mother would not let her down.

Devasena had known that her son had come to the city earlier that day and even felt his presence during the statue ceremony! She knew this was her son even when she saw him at the palace, setting the king's chambers on fire and battling with soldiers. The way his face turned red with anger seeing her bound in chains, reminded her of her husband. He was the exact copy of his father. With his mothers’ eyes, of course. His eyes were the exact shape and color as that of her.

As she saw her son in the chariot taking her away, she could only try to grasp his face in her hands. But 25 years of torture had harmed her, and all she could do was look at her child lovingly.

King Jayasena

“After 25 years, I’m finally close to my sister, Devasena! I will rescue her and leave.” Devasena’s brother was distracted, however. He thought he was dreaming! Amarendra Baahubali? After 25 years of his death? No, this can’t be true! That must be Devasena’s son! Amarendra Baahubali’s son was thought to be dead, but here he is! The one savior who can overthrow the wicked despot of Mahishmati and ensure justice!

He felt his knees going weak as he began tearing up. Avantika and the rest of his followers kneeled beside him to pay their respects, although he doubted any of them knew why.

Shiva

Oh, God! This older man was tough and fine all along! What happened to him suddenly? Why would he fall on his knees like that? Why is he staring at me like that? No, wait! Everybody around me is doing the same thing! What’s going on? Who is this ‘Baahubali’ which everyone in this citadel keeps chanting?

Shiva suddenly felt a pair of hands grasping his right foot. He watched with horror and curiosity as the old warrior placed his foot on his head.

He looked at Avantika at a distance and knew she, too, was confused just like him. But she was kneeling.

Did you like this? Do you want me to add Part Three? It will be from another scene in the same series.
